Why should I prefer Silk’n Glide 150,000 over other hair removal methods?
Unlike traditional hair removal methods including shaving, waxing and plucking, this device aims to treat the hair follicle and disable hair growth. In traditional methods, growth resumes after removal as the procedure only removes hair that is above the skin. The hair shaft beneath the skins surface isn’t effected and hence hair growth resumes like before. Clearly, hair removal using traditional methods is a never ending process as the growth appears within days or weeks! However, with HPL technology used in Silk’n Glide hair shaft and hair follicles are destroyed permanently, which inhibits their further growth.
Benefits of Silk’n Glide 150,000 over laser hair removal
Silk’n devices use HPL (Home Pulsed Light) that is a highly superior technology designed for home use. Benefits of this technology over IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) and laser are as follows:
- Safety – Unlike in IPL and laser devices, this comes with two safety levels. There is a skin sensor that detects suitable skin colour, eliminating the risk of burning. Another feature is the skin-touch mechanism that allows the device to emit pluses only when there is direct contact with the skin. It has a built-in safety mechanism to protect your eyes so you do not have to wear any special glasses or safety goggles.
- Speed of treatment – Owing to the larger spot size and a high repetition rate, HPL devices are designed to treat a larger area more quickly than lasers. With a smaller spot size (up to 1 sq cm), lasers take much longer for the same area.
- Effectiveness - HPL with its wide spectrum of light aims to work for a wide range of hair colours, while laser that is based on a single wavelength of light is only suited for one hair colour. Moreover, HPL uses a low energy level with a high peak power that supports hair removal easily and comfortably. But in case of laser hair removal, skin cooling with gel is essential due to use of high level of energy.
How to use it?
Using Silk’n Glide 150,000 is simple. You can operate the device in two modes – Pulsing and Gliding. In pulsing, each spot is treated one by one, while gliding is best suited to when you are in hurry. The device allows you to adjust speed from 1.5 to 3.5 second intervals between pulses depending on the area you are treating. This can be done by changing the energy levels from 1 to 5.
Multiple sessions might be required for achieving desired results as you can only treat hairs in an active growth stage. Also, the time required for treating an area will vary depending upon the body part and technique you choose. On an average, the device emits one pulse every 1.5 to 3.5 seconds. In Pulsing mode, treating legs might take 22 minutes, while in Gliding mode you can achieve results in 15 minutes.
Is Silk’n Glide 150,000 suitable for tanned skin?
Usually pulsed light hair removal treatment is not advisable on skin that has been exposed to the sun. But in the case of Silk’n Glide, you can use on even tanned skin. The lowest energy level (1) has been designed especially for safe use after sun exposure. You can even use this setting if you plan to sunbathe directly after treatment.
