The power of gold
Many just think of gold as expensive jewellery or watches, but it is so much more. Often being referred to as the ‘elixir of life’, gold has been used throughout history, with even Cleopatra being known for sleeping in a gold mask. Since then, it has had a wide range of applications for beauty and skincare, especially for helping to revitalise and rejuvenate the complexion. More recently, there has been major leaps forward in the science and research of gold in skincare, with one of the key outcomes of that being nano-gold.
Also known as colloidal gold, this form of the precious metal is a suspension of tiny gold particles in a liquid and is now most commonly seen in high-end skincare products. Due to its size and therefore particular properties, it can work to help the absorption of other ingredients in a skincare product, especially collagens, nutrients and botanical extracts. Additionally, research has suggested it can help enhance skin permeation to give the complexion a healthy appearance. To make this amazing ingredient even better, it is said to be great for helping with the appearance of ageing, such as fine lines and wrinkles, and is also known to aid firmness and elasticity of the skin.
The secrets of the formulation
Alongside the renowned Nano-Active Gold, the Gold Collagen Eye Mask has a whole range of remarkable skin-loving ingredients. Eco Masters wanted to ensure only the best ingredients were used in their mask, so after arduous research into botanicals, nutrients and vitamins, they finally came up with the perfect formula. In order to maximise the quality of the mask, each ingredients has been optimally measured and included so that each and every one provides just the right amount so you can rest assured that you are giving your skin exactly what it needs.
Also called fish collagen, this particular form comes from the sea. This is often preferred as marine collagen is said to be absorbed 1.5x more efficiently by the body than many other types. Collagen is an essential building block of the skin, and so when the natural levels decrease, that is one of the key causes of the signs of ageing, so is an important ingredient in skincare.
One of the most popular of the vitamins, Vitamin C is well known for being great for the skin. This is because it can help to brighten and reinforce the skin to help the complexions natural luminosity. It is also known to contribute to collagen formation and the protection of cells from oxidative stress, a big cause in the premature appearance of ageing.
This time-honoured plant has origins and uses dating all the way back to ancient times. For the skin, it is traditionally used to help revitalise and brighten so is ideal for use on under eye bags or dark circles. Research has also suggested it can have a protective effect against oxidation and therefore the signs of ageing such as wrinkles, crows feet and sagging skin.
An extract from the oat kernel, Oat Peptides are considered a great addition to skincare products as they can help with the resilience, firmness and elasticity of the skin. They are also especially beneficial as they are known to form a thin film on the skin that aids protection and moisturisation as well as give it a natural healthy glow.
Also known as Baicalin or Skullcap, this special herb is rich in flavonoids that are known for their protective effect on the skin, particularly against environmental stressors and free radicals. These can lead to the signs of premature ageing, which makes Scutellaria a great natural ingredient when it comes to skincare products.
This exciting compound plays a vital role in the synthesis of extracellular matrix molecules, the cells that support the skin. It also play an essential part in the barrier function of the skin which helps it to retain moisture. Just like collagen though, the naturally occurring levels decrease as we age, so using HA on the skin is important for helping to hydrate, smooth and tone.
As one of the most fragrant and luxurious oils used in skincare, Rose Essential Oil is ideal for helping to soothe the skin and aiding the appearance of dark circles. It can also help to protect from external stressors which can lead to the unwanted signs of fine lines and wrinkles, making it an important natural ingredient in the constant fight against premature ageing.
This amazing form of macroalgae accumulates minerals directly from the sea so is rich in trace elements, vitamins, carotenoids and active substances that can be known to protect the skin and promote its natural defences. Seaweed polysaccharides are commonly used to moisturise, protect from irritations and also detox the skin, making them ideal for puffiness and eye bags.
